How to merge PDF files in the right order

When you merge PDFs, the file list controls the final document order. Preparing it helps prevent misplaced attachments and duplicate pages. This workflow rearranges whole files; pages within each original PDF retain their sequence.

Open Merge PDF

Prepare each document

Save the PDFs to your device and use clear names such as 01-contract, 02-attachments and 03-receipts. Check that you have not included two versions of the same document. If you need only part of a file, first extract its page range with Split PDF and download that copy. Merging does not automatically select the latest version or remove duplicate pages.

Use the arrows to arrange the list

Open Merge PDF, sign in and select at least two unlocked PDFs. Use the arrows beside the file names to move whole documents. The list runs from top to bottom: every page of the first PDF precedes the second. You cannot drag individual pages between files in this tool. Check the displayed usage and file size limits before processing.

Review the joins in the downloaded copy

Open the combined PDF and check its first and last pages, then every boundary between attachments. Keep the originals, especially digitally signed documents and forms: combining files does not guarantee that their original signatures remain valid. Files are processed in the browser. If the tab closes during the operation, reopen the tool and select the documents again.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose one page from each PDF?

First extract the required page range with Split PDF, then combine the extracted copies.

Do file names alone determine the order?

Check the displayed list and use its arrows. Do not rely solely on file names or your device’s file picker order.
